Joe Doughty, PGA will be serving as the Career Consultant for the New Jersey and Philadelphia sections.

Doughty was introduced to golf as a teenager by his father. Although an avid hockey player, he was quickly hooked and dedicated his time to the game. Knowing little about the profession, he contacted many PGA professionals inquiring about careers in the golf industry. Fast forward a couple of years and Doughty would later graduate from Pennsylvania State University in 2016 with a major in Professional Golf Management and as a Class A PGA Professional.

During his time at Penn State University, and completing PGM internships at Liberty National Golf Club, Aronimink Golf Club, Congressional Country Club and Quaker Ridge Golf Club, he developed many more passions within the golf industry that were greater than just the game, most notably: development and mentorship. Doughty was fortunate to work for some amazing mentors and leaders in the game that helped advance his career. He trained as an Assistant Golf Professional at nationally recognized facilities including The Stanwich Club in Greenwich, CT, Bonita Bay Club in Naples, FL, Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, PA and Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus New Jersey.

Doughty decided to move out of golf in a full-time capacity and into a recruiting role to help individuals with their career goals and then into education as a teacher and has been doing that for the last 3 years. During a transition into teaching, he was able to continue his passion for the golf industry by still working at The Ridgewood Country Club as well as coaching a high school golf team.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends. His brother and sister-in-law recently had twin girls and he has been spending lots of time with them. Doughty's long time girl friend, Kristen, works for Spotify as a Senior Account Manager and they really enjoy traveling together. Additionally, he enjoys going to the gym, a good ski trip, cooking a nice meal, still trying to play ice hockey and of course playing some golf!

Doughty is excited to be a part of the PGA family and to make an impact on PGA Member Professional lives.
